4. How NOVA Works: Data Flow and Processing

4.1 Service Architecture

NOVA operates through the following architecture:

  1. Local CLI Tool: Runs on your computer, analyzes your codebase locally
  2. GitHub Integration: Authenticates via GitHub OAuth to access repository metadata
  3. Bridgeye API: Our backend service that intelligently routes requests
  4. Third-Party AI Providers: External AI services (Groq, OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek) that process your code and generate fixes

4.2 Data Processing Flow

When you use NOVA to debug code:

  1. Local Analysis: NOVA analyzes your codebase on your local machine to select relevant context
  2. Context Selection: Our intelligent context management system selects only the essential code snippets needed for debugging (typically <8,000 tokens)
  3. Transmission: Selected context is sent to Bridgeye API via encrypted connection
  4. Routing: Bridgeye API routes your request to an appropriate Third-Party AI Provider based on:
    • Provider availability and performance
    • Cost optimization
    • Task complexity
  5. Processing: The Third-Party AI Provider processes your code and generates debugging suggestions
  6. Response: The fix is returned to your local CLI tool
  7. Execution: NOVA applies and tests the fix on your local machine

Important: We do not store your code on our servers. Code is transmitted temporarily for processing and immediately discarded after the debugging session.

4.3 GitHub Integration

When you authenticate with GitHub:
